The underfunding letter
In 2023, the U.S. Departments of Education and Agriculture wrote to the governor of Florida. Their numbers show Florida Agricultural and Mechanical University got about $2.0 billion less in state money from 1987 to 2020 than it would have with the same per-student funding as the state's original land-grant university.

Florida's 2026-27 state budget, signed in June 2026, includes $92 million for Building C at the FAMU-FSU College of Engineering, which Florida A&M shares with Florida State. (news.fsu.edu)
