Election Day
Tuesday, Nov 3, 2026
Registration deadline
October 21, 2026 (fourth Wednesday before the election). Online registration is available; no same-day registration was listed.
Early voting
No-excuse in-person absentee voting runs October 20 through November 2, 2026, at places set by your local election office. Before October 20, you need an approved reason to vote absentee.
Races to watch
There is no governor's or U.S. Senate race in 2026. All 163 state House seats, 17 state Senate seats, the State Auditor and U.S. House seats are on the ballot. The legislature sets state funding for Lincoln University and Harris-Stowe State.
Ballot measures
  • Proposition A: Congressional map referendum Asks voters whether to keep House Bill 1, the state's new congressional district map; yes keeps it and no repeals it.
  • Amendment 6: Citizen initiative powers Would bar the legislature from changing or repealing a voter-approved citizen initiative unless 80% of both chambers send the change back to voters, and would stop lawmakers from changing the initiative process.

The underfunding letter

In 2023, the U.S. Departments of Education and Agriculture wrote to the governor of Missouri. Their numbers show Lincoln University got about $362 million less in state money from 1987 to 2020 than it would have with the same per-student funding as the state's original land-grant university.
